LOCATION: London Standard Hotel

CLIENT: Crosstree Real Estate Partners

PROJECT: Redevelopment of an existing brutalist designed 1970s office building for Camden Council, into an award-winning The Standard hotel. With the original structural facade retained, it was further enhanced with a glass clad roof extension which houses a double height restaurant and bar. The 266 guestrooms are designed in a unique range of styles, with a striking exterior shuttle lift in pillarbox red

VERITAS ROLE: Involved from the outset, we provided early tax planning advice around the structuring of the development, preparing individual capital allowance claim submissions across all relevant tax years, including the fit out of the restaurant and bar

POINT OF INTEREST: The development included the replacement of the existing 1970s single glazed units with a thermally enhanced alternate. Veritas Advisory were successful in claiming thermal insulation allowances on the extensive glazing element, on the basis that one of the reasons for the expenditure, was to improve the thermal qualities of the building
